Dominica Philately: 1968 Associated Statehood – $2.40 Trafalgar Falls

Trafalgar Falls is a pair of falls situated to the east of the picturesque village of Trafalgar. It consists of Father (a 75ft drop) and Mother (125 ft) which flow side by side. The falls were used to provide hydro-electric power for Rosseau and some of the villages.

The source for the Father Falls is a river that runs from the Freshwater Lake via Ti Tou Gorge in the Morne Trois Pitons National Park. The Mother Falls takes its source from the Morne Trois Pitons River.

The Father Falls used to cascade down a tall face of smooth rocks alongside a natural hot spring, A major rockslide in September 1995 buried the once popular hot springs and pools.
