Bahamas Philately: Eastern Steamship Corporation

During the 1950s, Frank L. Fraser brought in William R Lovett of Jacksonville as a partner in the  Eastern Shipping Corporation. Lovett owned the Winn-Dixie supermarket chain, and to whom Fraser had been shipping bananas for many years. Lovett had shipping interests of his own and in May 1961, Fraser sold out to Lovett, who renamed the company Eastern Steamship Corporation.

In 1963, the Yarmouth and Evangeline were sold to the Chadade Steamship Company, which formed a new subsidiary line, Yarmouth Cruise Line.

In 1965, Lovett again changed the name to the company Eastern Steamship Line.
