The British Empire Study Groups host Rober Scott, creator of a comprehensive history of the stamp used for two sales catalogues on the 1 Cent British Guiana, Black on magenta. An informative discussion on (and off) topics follows with all members of the group.
After the presentation, Robert wished to dedicate this video to the Memory of Irene Bromberg, who died on March 1st, 2022. In her role as the Executive Secretary of the New York Collector’s Club, Irene has helped so many people in the hobby. Irene was the heart, soul and glue that held the CCNY together for over 22 years, and she was a much-loved member of the BESG.
In the First British Guiana catalogue, Irene is recognized for her contribution. Dedicating this video to her memory is quite appropriate.
Irene loved the history, beauty and architecture of the Sanford White building which was given to the CCNY by Alfred Lichtenstein et. al.. With the CCNY selling the historic property in favour of leased premises, those wishing to make a donation should make a donation in her honour to the Humane Society of New York, an organization equally dear to her heart.
