The 1972 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XX Olympiad, was an international multi-sport event held in Munich, Bavaria, West Germany, from 26 August to 11 September 1972.
Malawi competed in the Olympic Games for the first time at the games with 16 competitors; 13 men and 3 women, who took part in 17 events in athletics, boxing and cycling.
