In 1950 Sir Stafford Sands, a leading member of the island’s Government, revived the Tourism Development Board. He was given a budget of $500,000 which was used for extensive advertising and the opening of five overseas offices in North America and Europe.
In 1964, with the introduction of Internal Self-Government, the Development Board was replaced by the Ministry of Tourism.
