Philatelist E. began in January 2022 as Erin D.’s Girl Scout Gold Award project.

Erin noticed that her history classes in school didn’t have the extra time or support to allow students to dive deeper into topics they find interesting. Often, she found that the teach, test, repeat format of most history classes doesn’t always allow for interesting peer-to-peer discussion or connections. The Philatelist E. project aims to help people of all ages learn about history in a new way: through short-form videos, postage stamp exhibits, and a patch program for Scouts.

The project also aims to expand diversity and inclusion in the stamp collecting world. Often an older, male dominated hobby, Philatelist E. works to expose young people of all genders and backgrounds to stamp collecting. By building a community creative minds, we can work together to learn new things and encourage everyone to be confident in their hobbies.
