Sir Walter Kingsbury Moore (1883 – 1957) was a merchant and the largest exporter of Bahamian sisal hemp and marine products (tortoise and sea shells).He exported Cascarilla Bark, Siftlings, Brown and Pink Cameo and other seashells including shell necklaces and Ambergis.
Walter Kingsbury Moore received a CBE (Order of the British Empire – Civil Division) on the Colonial Office Honours List, 1935. And in 1942, he received a Knight Bachelor on the New Year’s List.
He died in Nassau, Bahamas 4 December 1957 at 74 years.
