Bahamas Philately: Cape Eleuthera Resort and Yacht Club

Cape Eleuthera Resort and Yacht Club was opened in 1972/73. It was located on the south-western tip of Eleuthera, known as Powell Point, in the Bahamas. The resort formed part of a $35million development that was known as Cape Eleuthera by Avon Harbour Ltd that began on 23 November 1970.

Located on 5,900 acres, the resort offered private villas with a club house providing dining facilities. It also house a deep water marina and provided activities such as game fishing, an 18 hole championship golf course designed by Bruce Devlin and Bob von Hagge, and illuminated shuffleboard and tennis courts. It also provided an Olympic-sized swimming pool.
