Rhodesia Philately: 1974 Third Definitive Issue – 2½c Eland

The Eland (Taurotragus oryx) is a herd animal frequenting several types of contrasting country, from Kalahari sandveld to the grassy mountainsides of the Eastern Highlands of Rhodesia. Just above Melsetter village a sanctuary has been established for the remnants of herds that once flourished in the area. The Eland is placid in temperament and is the most tractable of the antelopes.
