The major exporters of oil into The Bahamas in 1975 were Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Libya. The United States was its major recipient.

The largest refinery in the was the Bahamas Oil Refining Co. (BORCO) located in Freeport, Grand Bahama, with a capacity of 500,000 barrels.
