The ½d. design, which depicts an African woman with a basket picking tea in Nyasaland, was compiled from two photographs taken by Messrs. R. K. D-Hadden and R. L. Kinsey, both of the Public Relations Department. The former showed a woman picking tea and the latter a male African performing the same task, but with a basket.
