Stamp Chats: Postal History Featuring the 24-cent 1861 Issue of the United States

Join the American Philatelic Society and Illinois-based collector Rob Faux as he describes the postal history of the 1861 U.S. 24-cent stamp, which was created to support mail to England following an 1848 agreement.

Faux explains related postal rates, routes and markings and how mail was sent via ships as well as the shift to prepaid mail. Destinations include Scotland, France, Prussia, Belgium, Italy, Russia and China. He also shows the “Scratch Under A” stamp variety. Presentation given during the 2020 Virtual Stamp Show.
