On 13 May 1787 the eleven ships of the First Fleet sailed from England, bound for Botany Bay. The Voyage of the First Fleet is being rediscovered om a series of five sets of stamps commemorating the events of two hundred years ago. On 13 October 1987 Australia Post will be releasing a Stamp Heritage Book that details the history-making voyage.
The First Fleet is the fourth Stamp Heritage Book produced by Australia Post for the Australian Bicentennial Collection. When the final book in the series appears next year, collectors will have a unique philatelic souvenir of Australia’s Bicentenary. Each volume follows a period of Australian history, leading toward Australian nationhood.
The Stamp Heritage Book, The First Fleet will be released on 13 October 1987. Price of the book including all five sets of First Fleet Stamps, is $11.95.
