Australia’s pastoral prosperity has its origins in the period 1810-1850 when the land was opened up by explorers and pioneers. It was also a time when first contact was made with the Aboriginal inhabitants who had to defend their traditional ways against white encroachment. In each case a detail from a larger portrait has been shown.
