Australia Philately: 1976 Australian Scenes

Australian scenes are the subject of a series of definitive stamps issued on 25th August, 1976. The series comprises 5c Richmond Bridge, 25c Broken Bay, 35c Wittenoom Gorge, 50c Mt. Buffalo, 70c Great Barrier Reef and 85c Ayers Rock. Designed by Mr Otto Borchert, of Sydney, they by multicolour photogravure on the Rembrandt machine, at the Note Issue Department of the Reserve Bank of Australia, Melbourne, on unwatermarked paper incorporating luminescence. Each stamp measures 37.75 mm  x 24.15 mm including perforations, or vice versa – the 5c, 25c, 35c, 70c and 85c values are in horizontal format and the 50c value is in vertical format. Sheet content (as issued) is 100.
