The Swan Hill Folk Museum designed by the community and Roy Gounds and associates, Lindsay Pryor and Robert Ingpen (Australian stamp designer). It was opened in 1962.
The post office was opened in August 1970. It was built of drop log construction and furnished in the period of the late 1800s. The building was originally a Cobb & Co. Mailing Station.
On 27 September 1971, the name was changed to the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement.
