Australia Philately: 1968 World Telecomunications

The 25c Intelsat stamp is shown in the photograph. The colours are: blue-green, grey, blue, black. The colours quoted are in the order of printing.

The 25c photo shows a marked panel behind the “INTELSAT II”, where the blue-green has been drawn in a wide area overprinted by blue in which the lettering has been reversed; this device, not so apparent in the actual stamp, was also adopted to avoid register faults which would have occured in the blue-green lettering had not been tailored closely to fit the reversal in blue.

The stamp was printed on unwatermarked coated paper incorporating Derby luminescence. Only four cyclinders were used in printing.
