In response to requests from philatelists for more variety in general purpose philatelic covers, Australia Post has introduced three new small-size covers (164 mm x 93 mm) which are replacing the small-size covers showing golden wattle; however the large-size covers (229 mm x 102 mm) showing golden wattle will remain on sale.
The designs of the new covers depict three aspects of Australia Wildlife – Cover A shows a kangaroo with a joey in her pouch; Cover B shows a koala and baby; and Cover C shows a kookaburra.
The covers are suitable for use when specific covers are provided for a philatelic event – for commemorative postmarkers, inaugral airmail flights, etc.
