Australia Philately: 1981 Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II

 

On 21 April 1981 Australia Post a new commemorative stamp will be issued to mark the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The stamp depicts the Queen’s personal standard for Australia, which is flown from Government House, Canberra, and the State Government Houses when Her Majesty is in residence, and from Her Majesty’s car when is travelling in Australia.

The stamp will be availanble at all post offices for approximately two weeks from 21 April 1981, and will remain on sale at philatelic sales centres until 30 November 1981, provided stocks last.

One first day cover, number 154, will be provided from the issue. Unserviced covers will be available from $A0.13 each from 14 April 1981. Serviced covers with the stamp affixed and postmarked 21 April 1981 will be available for $A0.35 each from all first day of issue post offices, including philatelic sales centres, until 3 May 1981, provided stocks last.
