Australia Philately: 1979 Centenary of the Birth of Norman Lindsay

A pre-stamped envelope will be issued on 22 February 1979 to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Norman Lindsay. Lindsay displayed his versatility in his works as a painter, etcher, illustrator, cartoonist, writer, sculptor and model-maker. It is, however, his controversial works of art and his children book – “The Magic Pudding”, for which is he is best remembered.

Pre-Stamped Envelope No.009

The stamp design on the pre-stamped envelope features a portrait of Lindsay by Melbourne artist, Bruce Weatherhead.The envelope is numbered 009 and measures 190 mm x 101 mm. It is available for $A0.25 over the counter at all Australia Post philatelic sales centres for twelve months from the issue date, provided stocks last.
