The Danish private local postal services were at their most extensive in the 1880s, and many had stopped by the early 1890s. The Copenhagen Telephone Kiosks began in 1896, later than most, and finally went out of business in 1980.
The kiosks became a Copenhagen institution, offering telephony, local delivery, post restante, mail forwarding, local parcels, and a range of other services, from theatre tickets to small advertisements, and some of the most attractive greetings telegrams of their time.
In this live presentation, to an international audience of 156 members of the Royal Philatelic Society London and the Kjøbenhavns Philatelist Klub, across 15 countries via Zoom video conferencing, Chris King RDP, Hon FRPSL told the story of these kiosks and the many services they offered.
