The Zambia National Dance Troupe was created to provide public rituals of national unity. It was created not long after independence in 1964 by Zambia’s Department of Cultural Services. Under the direction of Edwin Manda, dances were provided not only to tourists, but also Zambians.
By the 1980’s the dance troupe suffered a lack of funds and went into decline.
