The Royal Life Saving Society commemorative stamp to be issued on 6th July, 1966, is shown in the accompanying illustration. The background is light ultramarine, the wave pattern is a darker blue, “4c” is in white and the lettering and the swimmers are in black.
Although the waves appear grey where they cross the swimmers, this change of colour is caused simply by overprinting blue on black, and only three cylinders were employed in the printing, as indicated by the marginal register bars.
