Australia Philately: 1966 Christmas

This year’s Christmas stamp was issued at all post offices on 19th October, 1966, and will be on sale for about nine weeks. 

The stamp, of 4c denomination, with the main design in black on an olive green background, was printed by photogravure on helecon paper at the Note Printing Branch, Reserve Bank of Australia, Melbourne. Design size is 34.5 mm x 22 mm, and sheet content is 100. 

The design, the work of Mr. Lance Stirling of Ringwood, Vic., is in the style of a medieval engraving and shows the adoration of the shepherds.
