This species is fairly widely distributed through the open forest country of northern and eastern Australia, and from the Kimberleys to the south-east of the continent. It is generally seen in pairs or small flocks. The bird nests high on tree branches, making thenest from bark lined with dry grass. The breeding season is from June to January; two to five eggs are laid. The bird feeds on insects, nectar, native fruits and berries.
