Australia Philately: 1970 Royal Visit

In connection with the Cook Bicentenary celebrations, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Princess Anne will visit Australia, arriving on 30th March, 1970. As this is an Easter Monday, and thus a public holiday, the 5c and 30c stamps being printed to mark the Royal Visit will be issued on Tuesday, 31st March, 1970.

Both stamps are of the 34.5 mm x 22 mm printed area size and both are being printed in photogravure by the Note Printing Branch, in sheets of 100 on helecon paper. They will be on sale for about two weeks at post offices generally.

At philatelic sales sections, these stamps (and other recent and forthcoming issues) will be available for some months.
