*The $1 “A Sergeant of Light Horse” and $2 “Red Gums of the Far North” stamps were originally printed on Harrison unwatermarked non-luminscent paper, with gum arabic adhesive. This paper had been in stock for some time. Since it was made, a world shortage of gum arabic developed, and stamp paper now generally uses polyvinyl alcohol adhesive. Thus, recent new printings [1976] of the $1 stamp were made on new supplies of Harrison unwatermarked PVA paper, without luminescence. Portins of the reprinting of the $2 stamp was made on remainder stocks of Harrison unwatermarked non-luminescence gum arabic paper, and the balance on Harrison unwatermarked non-luminescent PVA paper.
