Australia Philately: 1975 Australian Postal Commission/Australian Telecommunication Commission

Vesting Day for the new Australian Postal Commission and Australian Telecommunication Commission, 1st July, 1975, was marked by the issue of two 10c commemorative stamps, for about two weeks postal sale and up to twelve months philatelic sales, provided stocks last. The stamps show the symbol, trading names and house colours of each of the commissions.

The two subjects were printed within the same sheet, in se-tenant format (horizontally and vertically), by the Note Issue Department of the Reserve Bank of Australia, Melbourne on Shoalhaven KP6T unwatermarked coated paper incorporating helecon. Colours, in printing order, were red, orange yellow, grey, black. Stamp size is 37.75 mm x 24.15 mm, including perforations, and sheet content is 100 – 50 of each design.

The designer of the stamps and associated first day cover was Mr Pieter Huveneers, of Sydney, who also created the commission symbols.
