A 10c commemorative stamp significant of International Women’s Year was issued on 12th March, 1975, for approximately two weeks sale at post offices and for up to twelve months sale at philatelic sales centres. The stamp design incorporates the Australian emblem for International Women’s Year; the emble is in the purple and green colours of the suffragette movement, and was deisgned by Miss Leonora Howlett, of Sydney, who also designed the stamp and the two first day covers associated with it.
The stamp measures 24.15 mm x 37.75 mm (including perforations) and was printed by photogravure on the Rembrandt press by the Note Printing Branch of the Reserve Bank of Australia, Melbourne, on Shoalhaven KP6T unwatermarked coated paper, incorporating helecon. Sheet content, as issued, is 100. Two cylinders were used, with the purple overprinting the green.
