A National Stamp Week, with the theme “Stamp Collecting for the Youth of Australia”, was held over the period of 26th September to 2nd October, 1977. Australia Post combined with the Australian Stamp Promotion Council (representing philatelic societies, stamp dealers and the philatelic press) to publicize the hobby by presenting talks, displays and demonstrations to Australia’s youth.
Stamp Pack
A special souvenir stamp pack was issued on 26 September 1977 to commemorate National Stamp Week 1977. The pack, which contains the 18c stamp issued to mark the 50th anniversary of Parliament House, Canberra and the 18c stamp issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the A.C.T.U., will remain on sale until 13 April 1978.
What’s So Good About Stamps?
Australia Post produced a number of special items orientated towards children, including a booklet, especially developed for children of school age, which tells the story of stamps and stamp collecting.
