Australia Post issued a pre-stamped envelope on 29 November 1978 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This declaration was initiated by the United Nations Commission of Human Rights after World War II. It is based on the premise that “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and race” and was adopted by the General Assembly in 1948.

Pre-Stamped Envelope No.008
The stamp area of the pre-stamped envelope features children of various races and was designed by Brian Clinton of Melbourne. The envelope is numbered 008 and measures 190 mm x 101 mm. It is available for $A0.25 over the counter at all Australia Post philatelic sales centres for twelve months from the issue date, provided stocks last.
