Australia Philately: 1981 25th Anniversary of Outward Bound

A commemorative pre-stamped envelope will be issued on 16 September 1981 to mark the 25th Anniversary of The Australian Outward Bound Memorial Foundation.

Outward Bound Australia has a main base which is the National School at Tharwa, in the Australian Capital Territory, but operates courses all over Australia.

Built around the Outward Bound motto “To serve, to strive and not to yield”, are programmes which emphasise the efforts of each person to extend his limits and to do his best. No absolute standards are set, nor does competition play any part. Instead, each student is encouraged, in a supportive but challenging environment, to set new and higher standards of expectation and achievement for himself.
