On 21 January 1981 Australia Post will issue a 22c stamp to celebrate Australia Day 1981. Australia Day stamps are regular features in the stamp issue programme and have been issued annually since 1978.
The 22c Australia Day 1981 stamps, featuring the Australian National Flag portrayed as the continent’s surface, emphasises Australia’s geographical isolation, while highlighting the nation’s rising independence and strength.
The stamp will be availanble at all post offices for approximately two weeks from 21 January 1981, and will remain on sale at philatelic sales centres until 31 August 1981, provided stocks last.

Unserviced covers will be available from $A0.13 each from 14 January 1981. Serviced covers with the stamp affixed and postmarked 21 January 1981 will be available for $A0.35 each from all first day of issue post offices, including philatelic sales centres, until 3 February 1981 provided stocks last.
