Australia Philately: 1981 Australian Painting

Australia Post will issue a further stamp in the current “Australian Painting” Definitive Series on 17 June 1981. The stamp will have a $2.00 value and will feature the Frederick McCubbin Painting “On the Wallaby Track”. This new stamp replaces the current high value definitive $2.00 stamp featuring Hans Heysen’s “Red Gums of the Far North”, which was issued on 24 April 1974.

The $2.00 “Red Gums of the Far North” stamp will be withdrawn from sale at post offices on 17 June 1981, but will be available at philatelic sales centres until 31 December 1981, provided stocks last.
