Blacktown post office, on the corner of Flushcombe Road, was opened on On 1 November 1939. The two storey building, the third post office, was demolished in 1970 and a combined post office and telephone exchange built.
The post office closed in 1998.

Blacktown became a Philatelic Sales Centre on 8 March 1972, the date of the Famous Australians stamp issue.
