The Brookvale post office, on Old Pittwater Road, was officially opened by the Federal Member for Mackellar, W. C. Wentworth on 9 Janaury 1951. Also present were the Deputy Director of Posts and Telegraphs, Mr. Kellock, R. W. Askin, and the director of the Warringah Shire Council, Cr. W. F. Horn. The first postmaster was Mr. Poate.
In 1965, a new building was constructed.The post office closed 1 November 2013.

Brookvale became a Limited Philatelic Sales Centre in 1978.
