The new Lakemba Post Office was opened on 2 May 1925 by P E Coleman, M.P., as a post and telegraphic office. The official opening was presided over by the Mayor of Canterbury, Alderman Ewan, and Mrs Coleman was the first to send a telegraphic message from the new office.
Lakemba post office featured in Australia Post’s 1987 Corporate Identity Program.
1980
Lakemba became a first day of issue postmarker office on 20 February 1980.
