A new Prahran post office was opened on 9 June 1928. The new post office had the main frontage on Greville Street with a bulk mail entrance on Macquarie Street. The building was faced with white limestone. The general offices, mailing room, telephone booths and private mailing boxes were located on the ground floor.
There was no formal opening ceremony.
