1966

An old-style letter receiver has been installed at the entrance to the Folk Museum on the Murray River paddle steamer “Gem” at Swan Hill, Vic., for the reception of mail.

A special pictorial postmarker, illustrated at right (actual diameter is 39 mm) is provided and was first used to coincide with the official opening of the Folk Museum on 29th September, 1966. As from that date, all mail cleared from the Museum letter receiver is being cancelled with the new postmarker.

The postmarker is made of steel, and embodies the Museum symbol.

1970

Swan Hill Folk Museum became a first day of issue postmarker office on 31 August 1970.
