Bahamas Philately: 1954 Definitive Series – 4d Water Sports – Skiing

Water-skiing was introduced to the Bahamas by Captain D’arcy Rutherford who had moved from London to Nassau in the 1930’s. By March 1940 he had established the first Bahamian Ladies Water-Ski Competition.

With the introduction of tourism in the 1950’s, water-skiing became a popular Bahamian sport.
