The Coat of Arms displayed was granted in 1728. It consists of a crown on a red background, surmounting a naval scene alluding to the extirpation of piracy by Governor Roger Woodes in 1718. The motto is Expulsis Piratis Restitua Comercia (When the pirates were expelled, trade flourished).
This stamp depicts the first coat of arms, which replaced the colony badge, in 1959. It was in use until 1971.
