Bahamas Philately: Dexter Press Inc

Dexter Press was established by Thomas Dexter as a print shop in Park Ridge, New Jersey in 1920. In 1928, the business moved to Pearl River, New York. By the 1930s, Dexter was printing linen cards and some hand-coloured ones. After 1952, Dexter Press produced its natural colour postcards in West Nyack, New York.

Cards from the 1950s were printed on a heavier cardstock with a flatter finish, and many are marked with the Dextone Printing Process statement. Around 1960, Dexter changed its process to the high gloss finishes.

In 1970 Consolidated Foods in Chicago purchased Dexter Press in West Nyack, New York, as well as World Color in Florida and Dexter Colour in Canada.
