The Emerald Beach Hotel on Cable Beach was opened in 1954 at a cost of $3.5m. The property was owned by Leo F Corrigan with the General Manager, Frank A McNellis (1954-1956). It was the first fully air-conditioned hotel in Nassau. With 300 rooms and New Providence’s first convention centre, the hotel set the pace for tourism development along the Cable Beach strip. Wesler T. Keenan was General Manager (1956-1961).
In 1963, Angelo Felice Aldo Rossi was appointed as General Manager (1964-1966). By September 1964, the hotel had been re-decorated and refurbished.
In 1967, the management of the hotel was taken over by Robert F Warner Inc and re-branded as the Emerald Beach Plantation and Hotel.
