In July 1967, a new addition to the hotel was opened – a 10 storey building (referred to as Oceanus South) with 140 hotel rooms and 32 apartments. The original hotel became known as Oceanus North and both formed Hotels Oceanus with a total of 308 rooms.
On 1 August 1967, Sheraton Hotels’ president Ernest Henderson announced that Sheraton would begin managing the Oceanus and the hotel was advertised as the Sheraton-Oceanus North and South.
