Bahamas Philately: Malabar X

“Malabar X” is an American schooner designed by John Gale Alden and built by Hodgdon Brothers, being launched in Maine in 1930. It was the tenth personal yacht made by its designer. In 1930 and 1932 it won the Bermuda Race.

Around 1965, the Malabar X was used as a charter service by Nigel W Lillington and his wife, providing sailings around the Bahamas. The schooner accomodated six people and additional activities provided were fishing, diving and water-skiing.
