The Mayfair Hotel began construction in 1957 and opened early 1959. The 56 room hotel was built by Ernest Batley and operated by the Clifford Hotels Ltd. It overlooked Nassau Harbour and had a roof-top bar and swimming pool.
In 1964, the hotel was purchased by Finance and Mortgage Ltd. The new owners invested $225,000 to renovate the roof-top bar and swimming pool.
