Bahamas Philately: New Providence – Clifton Pier

Clifton Pier is located in the South West of New Providence.

Clifton Pier was the site of a steam power station providing electricity for the Bahamas Electrical Corporation. It was also used as an alternate port for landing cruise passengers when adverse weather conditions prevented anchorage at Nassau. The ships would then shelter at Clifton Bluff.

In the movie Thunderball, Clifton Pier was the location of the tryst between James Bond and Domino.

In 1973, The South Ocean Golf Club was opened at Clifton Pier.
