Bahamas Philately: PAN AM – 1964 First Airmail Service – Rock Sound to Miami

On 24 December 24 1964, Pan American extended its long-standing Miami to Nassau service to Rock Sound in the Eleuthera Islands group of the Bahamas, some 80 miles east of Nassau. Rock Sound was the location of The Cotton Bay Club – originally developed by the founder of Pan Am Airlines, Juan Trippe, in 1959.

First Flight Covers

Pan American Airways arranged to cachet and postmark covers at Miami airport on the day of the flight.
