The Sonesta Beach Hotel & Golf on Cable Beach, Nassau, was opened in the summer of 1971. Construction of the 400 room luxury hotel began in 1970. The hotel was operated by the newly named Sonesta International Hotels Corporation (formerly Hotel Corporation of America) who were also operating the Balmoral Beach Hotel.
The hotel offered areas for dining, dancing and entertainment. Facilities included an 18 hole, par 72, golf course, four tennis courts lit for all night play, an 1800ft private beach and water-sport options.
