The town of Stella Maris on Long Island was established in 1963. Stella Maris Inn was was opened in 1965 by the first of four subsequent German partner families. Stella Maris Estate occupies the lands of what was once Adderley’s Cotton Plantation.
The inn provided both continental and Bahamian cuisine, air-conditioned rooms, a salt-water filtered pool, two beaches and a yacht dock, Activities included water-skiing, sailing and deep sea finishing. The estate was serviced by its own airport.
